We are seeking a Lead Development Specialist to join our high growth sales team with responsibility for discovering new business opportunities throughout the US to support the inside sales and field sales teams for Cytel’s Clinical Research Services division. In this newly created role, the Lead Development Specialist will be responsible for prospecting and developing the territories by identifying target opportunities, customers and relationships, cold calling new prospects, and generating qualified services sales leads.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Conduct account research to determine account background, financial, pipeline, organization charts, functional responsibilities and informal influences of key accounts, departments and individuals.
  • Arrange, conduct, and from time-to-time attend appointments, training, meetings, webcasts, teleconferences, and similar client meetings in support of qualified sales opportunities with Cytel personnel.
  • Create, build, and manage client and Cytel relationships to improve territory performance.
  • Create, review and maintain all records necessary to conduct business including company, contact, lead and opportunity information, contracts and legal paperwork.
  • Learn and understand Cytel services and relevant industry topics as needed to perform all duties at the highest possible level.
  • Provide weekly call statistics, status reports and forecast updates
  • Attend industry conferences and events.  

Ideally, you will have:
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in relevant scientific discipline.
  • 2+ years relevant sales experience providing services to or within the biopharmaceutical industry.
  • Thorough understanding of clinical trials.
  • Have or quickly develop a strong understanding of Statistical Programming, Data Management, and the Statistical design, simulation and analysis of clinical trials.
  • Entrepreneurial and self-motivated, without the need for significant infrastructure and support, an understanding of the dynamics of small, high-growth companies, the ability to work in a rapidly changing environment with research driven founders. 
  • Self-motivated and enterprising with the flexibility to work across functional boundaries.
